LUCAS MASON has a Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin and was a faculty member of the Composers Theatre program at the New School for Social Research. His compositions cover a wide range of musical expression, which include operas, song cycles, chamber music, symphonies and tone poems that have been heard at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Recital Hall and the Landmark Festival Series. The last of his five symphonic works was written for the noted American conductor Dean Dixon. Mr. Mason has also composed special music for several Newberry Award records and has been awarded commissions from the Composers Theatre, the Bryn Mawr College Dance Theatre and several New York-based dance companies, including Alwin Nicolais and Rebecca Kelly. In addition to his extensive list of compositions he has written the following books: A Manual of Rhythmic Coordination Studies for Pianists, The New Tuning: A Comprehensive Method of Keyboard Tuning Using Perfect Fifths, Mr. Mason teaches a course at the New School in piano tuning, and is a professional tuner and technician of high standing in New York City. In May 1997 the collaborative work of “The Spoon River Anthology” based on Edgar Lee Masters book was presented at the Dogwood Festival in Dogawiac Michigan. DONALD MEYERS, a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, is a vocal coach in the operatic and musical comedy repertoire. As Guy Lombardo’s choral director, he participated in the preparation of the now legendary series of musical comedy performances at the Marine Theater at Jones Beach, Long Island, NY. Many of Mr. Meyers’ singers appear at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera and many houses in Europe. Mr. Meyers has also staged operas for The Lyritas Performers, which include productions of Faust, Carmen, and Il Tabarro. His English adaptations include The Girl of the Golden West, Sister Angelica, Il Tabarro, La Serva Padrona and Massenet’s Manon and have been performed at Memphis State University, Manhattan School of Music and The Lyritas Performers. Most recently, Mr. Meyers’ English adaptation of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolda was presented in New York City.
